County GOP Participates in Broomfield's Adopt a Street Program;
Adopts 144th and other Broomfield Streets.FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Broomfield, CO June 18, 2009: "You might say we reached new lows while picking up trash and debris along 144th St.," quipped Broomfield County GOP 35th Precinct Captain Tom MacKenzie, a resident of NE Broomfield's Anthem Ranch community. "That's OK," he continued, adding, "We don't mind a little mud wrestling if our community comes out the winner."
The June 13th Saturday morning cleanup along highly trafficked 144th St. focused on the mile-plus link between Lowell Blvd. and Sheridan. GOP “trash busters” totaled 14 Broomfield resident volunteers. Digital photos of the cleanup event can be viewed at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/broomfieldgop/sets/72157619724654290/.
The Broomfield County Republican Central Committee joined Broomfield's Adopt a Street Litter Control Program earlier this year. Explains Committee Vice-Chair Rick Morgan, "Somewhere along the line, some folks started believing we Republicans aren't concerned with environmental issues. Not true. We live in the same communities and drive, walk and bike the same streets and trails as everyone else. This is our way of doing something environmentally meaningful and showing the community-at-large that we're as concerned as anyone and are willing to get our hands dirty – literally – to prove it!"
As the group’s commitment to the Adopt a Street program, Broomfield Republicans have agreed to clean up several Broomfield streets, including sections of Main and Dillon Road, once each quarter.3624266089_9057c50066.jpg
