A squirrel very dark in color, a black morph, or melanistic variety, is spotted near Niwot by Chad Fogelberg. These genetic mixes are largely uncommon in natural habitats. One may be spotted in several thousand squirrels. It is generally thought they are a rare result of interbreeding of species. I ran into some luck! He's cute too.
