Owl '10 999

Posted by william M. Johnson on August 29, 2010 at 12:35pm

This owl was an early summer resident in my neighbor's apple tree. A birding friend identifies it as a gray morph Eastern Screech Owl(Otus asio maxwelliae) by its markings, 8" height, and descending call. Also identified as Rocky Mountain Screech Owl.
