PRO MUSICA COLORADO CHAMBER ORCHESTRA WITH BOULDER CHAMBER CHORALE

Pro Musica Colorado and Boulder Chamber Chorale present Handel’s Messiah!

Boulder, Colorado—Pro Musica Colorado Chamber Orchestra (PMC) is joined by the Boulder Chamber Chorale for Handel's Messiah!

On Saturday, December 1st, 7:30 pm and Sunday, December 2nd, 3:00 pm, both performances at Mountain View United Methodist Church (355 Ponca Place, Boulder, CO), the evolution of the spirit of classical music, and how it can be used for positive solutions for world challenges, takes flight. Handel’s Messiah, which includes the famous Hallelujah Chorus, is a Christmas tradition not to be missed! PMC partners with the Boulder Chamber Chorale and their artistic director, Dr. Vicki Burrichter, for these special performances.

“Messiah is a masterpiece that has inspired every composer who has written oratorios, including Haydn’s Creation, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, and Mendelssohn’s oratorios,” says Cynthia Katsarelis, Music Director and Conductor of PMC. “I’m thrilled to be working again with Vicki Burrichter; we share an impassioned vision of this music, one that is informed by the early music movement but rendered with the expressive palette and power of modern instruments.”

Dr. Burrichter is pleased to work with Maestra Katsarelis again, having prepared the chorus for PMC for Haydn's Creation in the past. "Cynthia and I have a similar musical sensibility and commitment and our knowledge areas compliment each other well. This is the first time the Boulder Chamber Chorale has collaborated with PMC, and we are very excited for this new venture!"

In addition to the musical collaboration, another feature will be added to the concert. Handel presented this work annually as a fundraiser for an orphanage. In this charitable tradition, Pro Musica Colorado and Boulder Chamber Chorale are including a food drive that will benefit Community Food Share. Non-perishable, packaged items (no glass containers) will be collected. Especially needed are: Nut Butters - Soups & Stews - Cereal & Oatmeal - Canned Tuna & Chicken - Baby Food & Formula (Not Expired) - Beans (Canned or Dry) - Canned Fruits - Canned Vegetables - Pasta & Sauce – Rice.

"I love the fact that Handel presented his Messiah annually as a benefit for orphans," says Katsarelis. "As someone who teaches music in Haiti, I’ve witnessed the power of music to lift spirits, heal trauma, and make community. With our wonderful orchestra, chorus, and soloists, we are excited to share the Messiah with our community in Boulder and beyond.”

Ticket prices for Classical Evolution – 2018-2019 Season: $35 General, $25 Seniors, $5 Students, $55 Supporter Ticket. Two-Concert Package – two concerts for $50. Springtime, for those who suffer from allergies, can simultaneously be the most beautiful and uncomfortable time of the year. Symptoms range from irritating to agonizing so the search for remedies is never-ending.

31040794881?profile=originalAn easy way to take care of yourself this spring is to avoid known aggravates of allergies. Here is a list of the top 8 aggravates to avoid when your allergies are running wild.

1. Alcohol

Alcohol is known to dilate blood vessels. When the vessels in your nose are dilated, the symptoms of hay fever and asthma can worsen. By reducing alcohol consumption—or, better yet, completely eliminating it—you may find that your allergies are significantly reduced.

2. Dust in your air-vents and fans

This one is surely the most obvious, but often people forget how important a spring clean really is. Leaving dust on your fans, or in the vents of your air conditioning can aggravate your allergies. Cleaning the blades and clearing out your vents regularly is a simple way to ensure that the air you’re breathing is dirt free and allergy friendly.

3. Storms

Storms themselves won’t affect your allergies but the aftermath will. Why? Storms stir up all kinds of pollens, and being outside—especially right after a storm has hit—will likely leave you itching and sniffling to no end. To avoid a sudden increase in your allergy symptoms try to stay inside after a storm.

4. Wet soil

Another reason that storms can effect your allergy symptoms is because wet soil is a hot-spot for allergy-causing moulds. Try to avoid wet soil both outside and inside your home. What does this look like? Simple alterations like watering your plants less is a great way to alleviate your symptoms.

5. Humidity

Unless you live in a naturally humid environment, this one should be easy to do—by buying a dehumidifier, the dust mite population in your home could decrease and so could your allergy symptoms.

6. Hair products

Hair products create sticky hair, and sticky hair creates a very attractive landing strip for pollen. Avoid the extra attention by reducing your use of hair products during springtime.\

7. Pets

Pets hair is an epicenter of dust, dirt, and other allergy-producing particles. Make sure you’re washing your pets regularly to avoid the constant watery-eyes and sneezes that start whenever they enter the room.

8. Going to bed without a shower

Showering before bed will enable you to clean away any pollens or other allergens from your body and keep your sheets as allergen-free as possible so that you not only feel great but that you also get a good night’s rest.

With slight lifestyle changes, these 8 aggregates can be avoided to give you the most pleasant spring possible. However, if you’re suffering from more serious allergies and find that your quality of life is being significantly reduced, then visiting a doctor is the best way to go. At Founders Family Medicine, our health care providers will evaluate and treat your allergy symptoms for the best relief there is. And, since we’re open 7 days a week, we’re always ready to help.

(BOULDER, Colo., November 13, 2018) –8z Real Estate is proud to announce that Lane Hornung, CEO and founder of 8z Real Estate, has been named one of Denver Business Journal's 2018 Most Admired CEOs.

Fifteen honorees were selected from over one hundred nominations for metro-area chief executives in the inaugural class of the Denver Business Journal's Most Admired CEOs. The nominees were judged by an independent panel and the Denver Business Journal’s editorial staff who considered CEOs’ contributions to company success, civic engagement, and career achievement, among other factors.

Hornung explained the significance of receiving this award, “It is an honor to be recognized in such a talented group of metro-Denver area business leaders from respected businesses in our community. As a founder and CEO, it’s rewarding to take a step back and see what the brokerage has accomplished. The brokerage is bigger than me with team leaders, support staff, and real estate agents living out the 8z core values, and working the company’s mission to fix real estate, by gaining the trust of their clients and putting clients first. I am humbled to receive this award, but this brokerage wouldn’t be what it is without the dedicated 8zers who have carried out my vision for 8z Real Estate.”

8z Real Estate agents have set themselves apart in the industry selling three times more homes annually than the industry average.  The brokerage has also been recognized as the #1 rated brokerage in Colorado on Zillow, receiving over 2300 reviews and a five-star average on Zillow’s review platform, from clients who have bought or sold with an 8z agent.

31040794278?profile=originalThese accomplishments of 8z Real Estate were no coincidence, but rather shaped by Hornung’s previous professional experiences.

As a former Marine Corps attack helicopter pilot, Hornung learned how to be part of a team of highly skilled professionals that work together for a common goal. While 8zers conduct their own business as standalone agents, the company and office cultures are one of collegiality and teamwork. An 8z office team will support each other with mentorship or lend their expertise so that each 8zer can better serve their clients.

8z’s company culture has also been recognized with awards from The Denver Post’s Top Workplaces rankings, and Entrepreneur.com’s Top Company Culture list.  As a graduate student, Hornung worked as a research assistant for acclaimed author Jim Collins on the book Good to Great. Through this experience, Hornung learned what makes a great company stand apart.  This experience shaped 8z’s core values which haven't changed since the company was founded and guide every decision made at 8z to this day.

This year's Most Admired CEOs will be recognized at an awards reception hosted by the Denver Business Journal on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at the Denver Marriott Tech Center, and a special section in the Denver Business Journal on November 16th.

About Northern Colorado Manufacturing Partnership

The NoCo Manufacturing Partnership was formed in 2013 as a result of Governor Hickenlooper’s state Economic Development plan called the Colorado Blue Print. The Blue Print identified 11 key sectors of the economy in Colorado by region. Northern Colorado’s two main sectors identified were Health and Wellness and Advanced Manufacturing. Regions within the state were encouraged to form sector partnerships to provide more localized grass roots support to augment state efforts in each sector. These would be industry specific, led by business, in partnership with economic development, education and workforce development. A collaboration arose as part of the Blue Print process involving people from each of these affiliations and the NoCo Manufacturing Partnership was born. It continues to be an all-volunteer, business led, FREE membership organization designed to support Northern Colorado manufacturers. It is served by a Board of Directors, representing each affiliation from private business to local government, as well as two active committees: Networking and Manufacturing Talent/Rocks! Find us on the web, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
