The festival, a stop on The Bacon Brothers’ “People In The World Tour"is an all-day, family-friendly, student-run event supporting student programs

Evergreen is officially joining the ranks of the “six degrees of Kevin Bacon” this summer, as Mountain Music Fest proudly becomes a stop on The Bacon Brothers’ People In the World Tour featuring Kevin and Michael Bacon, staples in the entertainment industry. This is no ordinary music festival, as it’s presented by the Wooden Hawk Foundation and allows area students to be fully involved as a student-run festival. Attendees are invited to enjoy a full day of festival fun at Evergreen’s picturesque Buchanan Park (32003 Ellingwood Trail, Evergreen, Colorado) this August 16, 2026 from noon to 9 p.m. The event is often described as “one part carnival, one part music festival.”

“To say we are thrilled about The Bacon Brothers as our headline act would be an understatement,” said Michele Vanags, Wooden Hawk Foundation Chair. “We are so incredibly proud to be part of the band’s People In The World Tour. Our music festival is deeply rooted in making a true difference in the lives of our community’s youth, as our students take charge of everything from ticketing, stage production, sound, and lighting. All proceeds from this event go right back into our schools to support educational projects. We truly are a festival with a purpose.”

The festival’s mission resonates with The Bacon Brothers’ own commitment to community impact. Kevin Bacon’s organization, SixDegrees, supports initiatives that sustain and enrich local communities, with a focus on youth empowerment, justice, and equality. All values that align perfectly with the student-driven spirit of Mountain Music Fest.

The Bacon Brothers have spent over three decades creating their diverse sound, which they call “forosoco” or folk, rock, soul, and country music. Their mutual love of roots music has taken them around the world, from headlining gigs in Japan to American performances at iconic venues like Carnegie Hall, the Grand Ole Opry, Gruene Hall - and now Evergreen. Building on the festival’s student-driven energy, The Bacon Brothers will light up the stage with their acclaimed repertoire, offering attendees an unforgettable showcase of musical talent and storytelling.

Reflecting on their approach to music, Michael Bacon says, “We’re two musicians who write songs differently, and we’ve grown to really appreciate those differences. Whenever I go see a band play live, I’d much rather see them do a thousand things than just one thing. We take a similar approach to our albums.” This dedication to creativity and collaboration is exactly what attendees can expect from their performance at Mountain Music Fest.

In addition to The Bacon Brothers, Mountain Music 2026 will feature a diverse lineup of regional and national artists, with more performers to be announced in the coming months. The festival showcases a wide range of musical styles, highlighting both established acts and emerging talent.

Mountain Music Fest is a true celebration of student talent and diversity. In addition to a star-studded lineup, guests will explore booths featuring student clubs, organizations, arts programs, and sports teams, with interactive experiences throughout the festival grounds. There will be games, contests, and a wide variety of entertainment, along with several delectable food and drink options available on site.

Boulder, CO - The Boulder Housing Coalition (BHC) is thrilled to announce a groundbreaking milestone in Colorado’s housing landscape: Denver’s first permanently affordable cooperative, located in a historic mansion at 1350 Logan St. This stunning 19-bedroom mansion—formerly a butler’s school—has been transformed into a vibrant cooperative known as The People’s Mansion, a sanctuary for affordability and community at a time when both are increasingly hard to find.

For 25 years the Boulder Housing Coalition has provided permanently affordable and radically inclusive cooperative housing in Boulder, empowering low-income families and individuals with a stable place to call home.  This expansion to Denver is a major leap forward for BHC, as well as a triumph for the affordable housing movement, setting a precedent for future co-ops. The People’s Mansion is more than just affordable housing—it’s a living testament to what’s possible when communities come together to create lasting, sustainable solutions.

Celebrate the People’s Mansion with Us!

In honor of this momentous occasion, BHC is hosting two events where community members, alumni, and supporters can celebrate and engage with this exciting new cooperative project.

  1. Pies for Justice Fundraiser at The People’s Mansion (1350 N Logan St) – Saturday December 7 2:00-7:00 p.m. MST Love pie and hate fascism? Want to eat your feelings and do some good? This event is for you! Pies for Justice is one part pie baking contest, one part fundraiser. Hosted by Queen City Cooperative and co-hosted by LiveWork Denver and Boulder Housing Coalition.
  2. Alumni Reunion & Impact Party (Virtual) – Tuesday December 10 6:00-8:00 p.m. MST. This online gathering will bring together alumni, supporters, and community members to celebrate the new co-op, share stories, and reflect on BHC’s impact over the years. Open to all, this gathering is the perfect way to learn more about the co-op model and the vision behind The People’s Mansion.

Support the Vision

The BHC co-ops are more than just affordable housing. BHC co-ops are an environmentally sustainable model that foster a sense of community, mutual support, and shared purpose far beyond other affordable housing options. The opening of The People’s Mansion marks the next chapter in this legacy, providing stable housing for individuals who, in turn, contribute meaningfully to Denver and Boulder’s social and cultural fabric.

As a small nonprofit, BHC relies on the generosity of its community to continue expanding its impact and maintaining safe, affordable housing for residents. All funds received between November 1st and December 10th will be boosted by the Colorado Gives Day Foundation. Your donations are a powerful way to champion affordable cooperative housing and help build a brighter, more accessible future for all.
