The 20th Annual Cherry Creek Diversity Conference awarded the "Human Rights Award" to The Women's Wilderness Institute based in Boulder. The Diversity Conference is held annually in Denver and is attended by over 1,000 high school students from around the state as they learn and celebrate diversity through music, workshops, and seminars.

The Women's Wilderness Institute, founded by Laura Tyson in 1998, was selected to receive the award because of the "positive impact" that wilderness programs have on students' self-esteem and their ability to make new friends.
