Three films from Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary have been officially selected to premiere at the Virtual International Vegan Film Festival on November 7-21, 2022. Two of the three films are nominated for awards in the “Animal Advocacy - Short” category.

"The Love Stories of Luvin Arms" (nominated) chronicles six complex, loving relationships between individuals at Luvin Arms. "Lucky the Rescued Cow: From Solitude to Serenity" (nominated) tells the incredible story of Lucky, who was destined for slaughter in November 2021. Through his unrelenting pursuit of connection, he saved his own life by inspiring an entire community to come together in one grand act of compassion.

"Ahimsa in Action" is an unforgettable cinematic experience of love, life, and hope – a film about the unlikely founding of Luvin Arms.

"Every rescued animal has a story, and I am honored to tell their stories. I fight for them every single day, and want to make the world a more beautiful place for animals everywhere." - John Burton, Film Maker

“People connect with stories. Stories inspire transformational change. Film is one of the most impactful ways to tell stories, because it allows us to carefully craft an emotional journey that includes narrative, visuals, and music. At Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary, we have literally hundreds of stories to tell. These three films are just the beginning!” – Emma Schwarz, Script Writer

Based in Ottawa, Canada, the International Vegan Film Festival is a “trailblazing event dedicated to celebrating the vegan ideal: a healthier, more compassionate, environmentally friendly lifestyle that can be achieved through the consumption of plants and animal-free alternatives.”

New Belgium Brewing Seeks Films for Clips of Faith

31040783061?profile=original

New Belgium Brewing, maker of Fat Tire Amber Ale, is calling all filmmakers, beer-lovers and videographers! New Belgium’s Clips of Faith is in its third year and searching for short films of the tasty variety.

Clips of Faith is an 18-city tour where people can savor beers from New Belgium’s esoteric Lips of Faith series, along with some popular classics, while enjoying short films and raising money for local nonprofits.  Since its inception two years ago, the film festival has raised more than $91,000 for local philanthropic organizations and shown nearly 40 amateur films.

“We really enjoy working with all the creative folks in our community of beer drinkers to bring the event together,” said Christie Catania, Clips of Faith Manager-at-Large.  “The whole evening is a remarkable collaboration of passions – hand-made films with hand-made beer.  We look forward to bringing out some new unique beers and putting together the final cut of the 2012 show.”

Over the last two seasons, New Belgium has received nearly 200 film submissions, with approximately 20 selections making each tour. This year, all selected entries will receive a custom gift from New Belgium and screenings in 18 cities.

To enter, upload your film by April 16 to www.clipsoffaith.com. The guidelines include:

  • The film must be no more than seven minutes.
  • Filmmakers must be at least 21 years old.
  • The film can cover any subject/genre, but extra points go to films that include a New Belgium folly: craft beer, sustainability, whimsy, adventure or culture.
  • Keep it clean.
  • Filmmakers must secure rights for all elements included in the film.

In 2010 and 2011, some of the selected storylines included a paddling trip through whaling waters, a talking beer bottle sketch comedy and an absurdist spaghetti western. Film genres ranged from comedic shorts, animation and environmental documentaries to tales about the beloved bike.

The Wisdom Exchange  Presents Boulder Film Maker Patty Greer's and her Newest UFO Movie
"4 Stories – One Event – Other Worlds"

Friday, March 23, 7 PM

Four different groups of people saw Orange Balls of Light over an English Crop Circle on July 29th and experienced a telepathic communication with the "Beings."

The men from Belgium were still in shock throughout the interview. They watched Balls of Light turn into "Illuminated Light Bodies" with arms, legs and a head, just hours before.

A man from Holland and a child from Belgium were both told, "The Crop Circle is not done yet."  Two additional phases of the Crop Circle appeared within days. A group of French people were equally stunned by their sighting. How did all of these people meet the film maker within 24 hours in different places around Southern England and tell her their stories? Similar stories!

We offer you the information. Your perception is up to you.
Includes an Australian woman's photographic account of numerous ultra-dimensional (ET) beings that use her property as a doorway to other worlds. Many of her photographs show "Energies" that have not been seen before. She has taken more than 800,000 photos with 11 different cameras!
_____________________________________________________________________________

Patty Greer will join us in person for a live Q & A and, believe me, nothing can compare to a conversation with Patty about her experiences. If you’re a believer, be prepared to be captivated. If you’re a skeptic, be prepared to be converted!

Filmed over twenty years by acclaimed documentarian Jennifer Fox (FLYING: CONFESSIONS OF A FREE WOMAN), MY REINCARNATION chronicles the epic story of the high Tibetan Buddhist Master, Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, and his western-born son, Yeshi. The film follows Namkhai Norbu’s rise to greatness as a Buddhist teacher in the West, while his son, Yeshi, recognized at birth as the reincarnation of a famous spiritual master, breaks away from his father’s tradition to embrace the modern world. Can the father convince his son to keep the family's threatened spiritual legacy alive? Never before has a high Tibetan Master allowed such complete access to his private life and it is doubtful that another ever will. With her signature intimate entry to both family and icons including the Dalai Lama, Fox expertly distills a decades-long drama into a universal story about love, transformation, and destiny.

Magnolia Pictures and the Green Film Company announced today a unique screening program in ten cities across the country that will allow filmgoers to choose how much they want to pay for an advance look at Freakonomics: The Movie. These pay-what-you-want screenings offer fans a chance to see the film on Wednesday, September 22nd at 7:30pm, at the Chez Artiste theater in Denver (4150 E. Amherst Avenue), two weeks before the highly anticipated film version of the internationally bestselling book by Stephen Dubner and Steven Levitt hits theaters.

Tickets for the screenings are now available, and are being exclusively sold online through MovieTickets.com. Filmgoers can choose how much they wish to pay—anywhere in the range of $.01 to $100, with the completion of a short questionnaire. The survey, which after completion gives access to the ticket buying page on MovieTickets.com, is accessible here:

http://www.magpictures.com/freakonomics/freaksurvey.html

In the spirit of the creative, incentives-based thinking behind Freakonomics, the pay-what-you-want screenings reference a popular experiment from the original book, in which authors Levitt and Dubner analyze how people interact with a weekly, pay-what-you-want bagel delivery service. The data collected anonymously at the time of purchase will be analyzed by authors Dubner and Levitt to identify what factors and circumstances prompt movie-goers to pay more or less for their screening tickets.

“The pay-what-you-want screening represents a fun and engaging way to illustrate the underlying premise of Freakonomics—the application of economics and incentives-based thinking to everyday situations to uncover surprising and sometimes controversial conclusions,” muses producer Chad Troutwine. “It seems only fitting, then, to engage Freakonomics audiences in their own local economic experiment, offering a chance to see the film in advance of its theatrical release while simultaneously bringing the concept of incentives thinking to life.”

Produced by Green Film Company and distributed by Magnolia Pictures, Freakonomics examines human behavior with provocative and often hilarious case studies brought to life by a dream team of Academy Award® and Sundance Film Festival winning directors. Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing (Jesus Camp) balance levity and candor with their eye-opening profile of underachieving kids incentivized to learn with cold hard cash. Alex Gibney (Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room) delivers a visually arresting look at the crumbling facade of Sumo wrestling. Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) offers up a buoyant and revealing angle on the repercussions of baby names. Finally, Eugene Jarecki (Why We Fight) investigates an unsettling theory to explain why crime rates dramatically dropped in the early 1990s. Seth Gordon (The King of Kong) weaves the segments together with brisk interludes, providing context and commentary from authors Dubner and Levitt.

Space at the pay-what-you-want screenings are limited, and tickets available on a first come, first served basis. In addition to opening theatrically nationwide on October 1st, Freakonomics is also available for rent at a premium advance price on iTunes (www.iTunes.com/freakonomics), Amazon, and On Demand through major cable providers everywhere.

Freakonomics the Movie, the highly anticipated film version of the internationally bestselling book about incentives-based thinking by Stephen Dubner and Steven Levitt, hits Denver’s Starz Film Center
at the Tivoli this Friday, October 8, 2010. Produced by Green Film Company, Freakonomics the Movie features a dream team of Academy Award® and Sundance Film Festival winning directors.

Like the book, the film examines human behavior with provocative and occasionally hilarious case studies. For those who read the book but are looking for something fresh, Freakonomics the Movie also covers entirely new ground. Finally, Eugene Jarecki (Why We Fight) investigates an unsettling theory to explain why crime rates dramatically dropped in the early 90s. Seth Gordon (The King of Kong) weaves the pieces together with brisk interludes, providing context and commentary from the authors.

Producer Chad Troutwine saw cinematic potential in the surprise bestseller. “With Freakonomics the Movie, Stephen Dubner and Steve Levitt promised to reveal the hidden side of everything, and they delivered a brilliant book that achieved mainstream success,” extols Chad Troutwine, the Producer of the cinematic adaptation. “Similarly, our film Freakonomics the Movie seeks to achieve broad appeal by examining every day topics like parenting, cheating, and bribery without abandoning the economics research that legitimized the book. This is a golden era for non-fiction filmmaking, and Freakonomics the Movie showcases the best non-fiction filmmakers in the world.”

“Living with Schizophrenia: A Call for Hope and Recovery” is a half-hour documentary film that tells the story of three people who are living meaningful lives with schizophrenia, a chronic and potentially disabling brain disorder.  Visit  http://www.hopeandrecoveryfilm.com/videos/trailer.swf to view the documentary trailer.  The film sets out to increase understanding and to reduce the fear and stigma often associated with this mental health condition. About one percent of the US adult population, or 2 million, and approximately 24 million people globally are living with schizophrenia.

“‘Living with Schizophrenia’ highlights the stories that don’t make the headlines – the stories of hope and promise,” said Emily Abt, award-winning filmmaker and director of the film. “My grandmother struggled with schizophrenia, and making this documentary gave me new insights about what it is like to have this illness and overcome the obstacles in life that it presents.”

In the film, viewers journey with three individuals with schizophrenia to experience their daily struggles, personal insights, paths to the mental health recovery process, and the impact their illness has had on those who love them. “Living with Schizophrenia” delves into the lives of Ashley, who after finding effective treatment for her schizophrenia, returned to school and created a blog to share her story with others; Joshua, who was in and out of psychiatric hospitals for six years and now, following his path of mental health recovery, is dedicated to helping others living with the illness; and Rebecca, who spent a decade blaming herself for her diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia and is now actively involved in her treatment process.

Ashley, Joshua, and Rebecca are joined in the film by their families and experts in schizophrenia, including community-based psychiatrist Rebecca Roma, MD, medical director of the Community Treatment Team at Mercy Behavioral Health in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Xavier Amador, PhD, clinical psychologist and founder and director of the LEAP Institute; and, Dave, president of the Georgia chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Throughout the film, they share their perspectives and reinforce the message of hope and self-acceptance for people living with schizophrenia.

Schizophrenia is a complex mental disorder whose cause eludes experts to this day.  Researchers have identified various risk factors for schizophrenia, including heredity, brain damage, and environmental factors such as social stress, isolation, and drug use.  The disease typically manifests as abnormal psychological functioning and disturbed behavior. There are currently no physical or lab tests that diagnose the disease; therefore, schizophrenia is diagnosed by the presence of symptom types.

“By sharing the powerful stories of Ashley, Joshua, and Rebecca, we can work to reduce the fear and reduce the stigma, just like we’ve done with so many other issues over the years,” said Dr. Roma. “Deep down inside, we’re all people with different struggles and I learn from my patients every day about the power of perseverance and hope.”

“Living with Schizophrenia” was funded and produced by Janssen, Division of Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc.  The people featured in the film present their own stories and ideas and were not compensated by Janssen to appear in the film. Janssen products are not named or promoted in the film.
